Filming is underway about the history of Kursk and the wonders of the icon "Sign"

The full-length feature documentary film "The Legend of the City of Kursk and the Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God "The Sign"" is created with the blessing of Metropolitan Herman of Kursk and Rylsk with the support of the Kursk Diocese and the Ministry of Culture of the Kursk Region. The project won the competition for grants for the development of civil society in the Kursk region in 2022 year.

Today, the Kursk-Root Icon of the Theotokos "Sign" is the main shrine of the Russian diaspora. In the XXI century, it reunited the two branches of the Orthodox Church: ROC and ROCOR, How the two halves of the icon once joined, cut by the enemy. About amazing events from the history of Russia tells "The Tale of the City of Kursk", written by an unknown author in the middle of the XVII century. However, this monument of Old Russian literature has not yet been published. Forgotten pages tell about the past of our city, the acquisition and miracles of the holy image, related to significant events in the history of the Kursk Territory and the entire Russian State. The miraculous icon in the "Tale" is the main character since the XIII century.

The first stage of work on the project has been completed, which consisted of digitization and translation of the original source of the chronicle "The Tale of the City of Kursk", and a trailer for the future film was shot..

Artistic director of the project – screenwriter and producer Gennady Merkulov. Author and director of the film – Daniil Merkulov, whose film "On the Far Frontiers" was presented to the Chickens at the end 2022 of the year. The project is implemented by the Kursk Regional Public Organization "Orthodox Society of St. Seraphim of Sarov".

The first shooting of the new picture took place at the place of finding the icon in the Root Desert, in the temples of Kursk and Kurchatov, as well as the village of Kopyonki, Zheleznogorsk District.
