Feast of the appearance of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Kazan

In the monastery of the Root Hermitage, a patronal feast day was celebrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. An all-night vigil was served in the cathedral church the day before, on the day of the holiday itself – early Divine Liturgy in the Kazan Church, which was headed by the dean of the monastery, Hieromonk Agapius (Chernyshov). Before the late Liturgy, a moleben was served with an akathist to the Mother of God, And then – Divine Liturgy, which was headed by the abbot of the monastery, Hegumen Seraphim (Kotelnikov). After the service, a procession to the holy spring of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God took place, where a water-blessing prayer service was held for the patronal feast day. All guests of the monastery were invited to a festive meal.
